A Working Store — With No One to Keep It Working

When the partnership began in June 2024, Ergobaby wasn't looking for a rescue. Its Magento 2 store was already live across multiple markets and serving an established international business. The challenge was what came next: the platform needed regular engineering attention as checkout rules evolved, bugs surfaced on the frontend and backend, and integrations had to stay dependable.

The brand needed more than general maintenance — a senior-level partner that could understand the business behind each request, react quickly, and ship improvements that directly affect conversion and customer satisfaction. Growth into new markets made that need more urgent: every regional exception added pressure to a checkout that customers rely on to complete an order.

Two Years In: What the Partnership Looks Like

Senior Engineering

Six specialists across frontend, backend, and API tasks — continuity and broad coverage without a large internal team.

Multi-Market Checkout

Validation, delivery, and order handling adapted per region, so one Magento 2 platform serves different markets without one-size-fits-all checkout.

Faster Improvements

New checkout features move forward when ready, as part of an ongoing roadmap alongside critical fixes and integration work.

No In-House Team, Multiple Markets, One Checkout That Can't Fail

A checkout flaw on a multi-regional platform hits several regions at once. Ergobaby needed stability amid ongoing changes — three constraints stood out.

Three Challenges

Complex Checkout Rules

Checkout needed market-specific validation, delivery, and order rules fitting Magento 2 without side effects elsewhere.

Recurring Platform Issues

Bugs required ongoing investigation — separating urgent, order-interrupting issues from lower-risk maintenance.

APIs That Can't Drift

REST API connections needed continuous attention — an unreliable connection could disrupt data exchange behind the storefront.

Not a Project. A Standing Engineering Team.

Stellar Soft joined as a long-term engineering partner, not a team brought in for a single launch — a consistent group of specialists who learn the platform and keep improving the store without resetting knowledge from project to project. We work iteratively: critical bugs first, followed by business-critical improvements and lower-risk development, in controlled steps rather than one large release.

How the Checkout Logic Actually Works

Custom Checkout Logic

Magento 2's standard checkout doesn't cover every market-specific rule out of the box. We extended the core flow so custom regional validation, delivery logic, and order management trigger precisely per market without interfering with other storefronts.

Platform Stability and Bug Fixing

On a live store, every fix must protect active customer journeys. We investigate frontend and backend issues to root cause, prioritizing by business impact — tasks blocking checkout or payments take priority over cosmetic bugs.

REST API Integrations

Magento 2 exchanges data with third-party systems through REST APIs that need ongoing attention as requirements change. We maintain and extend the integrations and address connection issues before they become persistent operational bottlenecks.

Iterative Development and Support

We prioritize by risk and business value: checkout blockers first, regional rules second, lower-risk updates last. Small, iterative releases minimize risk — validating updates across every supported market, not just the one requesting the change.

Where It Landed: For Shoppers, for the Business, for the Platform

Technical

Checkout delivery. Before: business-critical checkout changes were tied to broader release cycles. After: high-priority checkout updates ship when they're ready instead of waiting for a full platform release.

Platform stability. Before: recurring frontend and backend issues could affect critical purchasing flows. After: a standing team investigates and resolves issues continuously while checkout keeps evolving across markets.

Business

Shopper experience. Before: regional validation and delivery requirements were harder to manage consistently. After: shoppers get a checkout that behaves predictably for their market, with the right rules applied during the order flow.

Engineering capacity & cost. Before: covering frontend, backend, and API needs internally would require a sizable engineering function. After: Ergobaby gets a six-person senior-level team without maintaining a large in-house development staff.
